Nescafe Bungkus Satu

This is what I do after my lunch in the office lately. Each time after makan, I will surely ordered a packet of nescafe!

It's from a some sort of a warung, just beside the office. Whenever friends want us to belanja minum, we said lets go to "Ramanda"!

We named the place "Ramanda" from the owner's name "Raman" combination with "Ramada" Hotel (Renaissance Hotel Melaka)

I brought it back to my office to drink and continue with my work!

I think I am overloaded with caffeine in my body this week! Overloaded with work too!

Netbook vs Notebook

Talking about Mobility.
Just look at the SIZE! this is Sony VAIO on top of my Acer notebook.

anyway,...

Netbooks
are designed purposely for the Internet, to communicate, learn, and view information.

-are light-weight,
-longer battery life than notebooks,
-are less dependent on a battery charger during the day.

-may contain more than one wireless method to connect to the Internet.

Notebooks are more multiple-purpose computers.

Features:

Notebooks
-screen are about ten inches and up.

Are we taking 100% Responsibility for Our Lives?

This is not an article about good advice. This article talks about how a purposeful mindset can lead us to achieving success, whether in terms of wealth, personal aspirations or relationship.

A recently conducted survey reveals that more and more people are getting contented easily with their lives, that they lack motivation to improve themselves and succeed. Is this all that we are? Or is this all that we can do?

The million dollar question is "What is our vision of ourselves, what aspirations do we hold for our future?

Fortunately, there are a few specific steps we can take to assist us in attaining our most sought after aspirations. More importantly, before we are able to take these steps, we have to adopt a purposeful mindset of "Taking 100% responsibility for our lives". That means giving up all excuses, all the reasons why we can't and why we haven't up till now arrived at where we want to be, and all of our blaming of external circumstances. We must give them all up forever.

Its time to take accountability for ourselves.

This is my new number 023-4001390

Hi,

Communication is very important today, whether to stay in touch with friends or sharing information! Almost everyone carry a mobile phone!

I would like to share with everyone that you could make calls for FREE, provided :

1) you own a Nokia E Series model phone or an iphone.
2) you are in a WiFi area making call to your friends who is also in a WiFi area

My friends laugh at me when I told them that they could make calls without a SIM card...
I told them it is happening today!

I still got my 016 number.

023 is another Telco number.

I can make calls to another 023 number when I am in a WiFi area and talk for FREE!

You won't be able to call me using my number at 023-4001390 yet, because I don't have that kind of mobile phone.

Can You Feel It ? Its Earthquake !

My friend called me today, 30th Sept 2009 and told me there is an Earthquake at his work place, in PJ and everyone was ordered to evacuate the building immediately.

The time was 6.27pm. I was at a cafe with some friends having coffee.

Shortly after that, this girl walking towards the cafe and told the cafe owner (who is also her friend) that she can feel the vibration and it just nearby here, in Melaka Raya.

I had this experience before, its about a couple of years back.

It happened at night, around 12 midnight, while I was sitting at home watching TV and I felt some giddiness. I stood up and still felt the same. I moved my head, to the left and right.

I didn't notice anything was wrong until I saw a big wave in my aquarium.

The first thing that came into my mind was " Earthquake " and I ask myself Earthquake is here? in Malaysia? impossible.

I ran down immediately and look up at my apartment. This is funny coz I didn't see the building is falling down. I was the only one down there and I see nobody else.

Later, I saw all the neighbour from my next door condominium occupying the condominium entrance door. All sitting there, some drove off the stay with their relatives and friends.

Wireless At Home

If you want to surf at home, going online from the comfort of your own home and most people love to do so, what should you do?

Before you ask someone to just come to your house to fix it, you might want to know what kind or which gadgets to use.

I learnt from someone who is in this line, make sure you choose this Modem / Router:

1) ADSL2+
2) Wireless-N Broadband Router

(Give more priority to mobile calls while other family members at home might be busy downloading music, video or games, etc...)

Most home is using Wireless-G Broadband Router.

It has a very good speed.

WiWi

Three WiMAX licensees are deploying "WiWi" - a hybrid of WiMAX and WiFi wireless broadband technologies - developed by applied-research institute Mimos Bhd.

The licensees are Redtone International Bhd, Packet One Networks (P1) Sdn Bhd and Asiaspace Sdn Bhd. They are three of the four WiMAX licensees in the country.

Datuk Abdul Wahab, Mimos President and Chief Executive said, WiWi is more feasible and cheaper alternative for last-mile connectivity. "It enables the users of WiFi to connect to the internet at WiMAX broadband speeds.

"Last mile" refers to the final segment between an Internet or communication service provider's infrastructure and a subscriber's premises. The gap is traditionally bridged by a wired connection, such as copper phone lines.

In recent years, service providers have turned to wireless technologies to bridge the gap, since copper lines are more expensive to lay and sometimes aren't feasible, such as in the case of isolated communities.

Mimos' WiWi technology takes the wider coverage of a WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) setup and links it to the cheaper WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) system to make the last mile connection.

Using WiMAX technology exclusively would be very expensive at this point of time, while WiFi just doesn't have the broadcast reach for such an expansive application.

Also, most computers and other Internet-enabled gadgets now are set up for WiFi connections instead of WiMAX, the specifications of which are still being standardised.

WiWi provides plug-and-play broadband hotspots and can enable multiple PCs to access the Internet via a single WiFi connection.

It will also be easier, cheaper and faster to connect hotels, universities, schools, convention centres and rural communities to wireless broadband with WiWi.

Mimos also claimed that WiWi's multicasting capability enables the technology to support high-quality Internet Protocol TV services.

Michael Lai, CEO of P1, said the company sees much merit in using the hybrid technology to help bridge the "digital divide," that gap between the technology haves and have-nots in the country.

We will try it at the P1 Community Broadband Centre (CBC) in Chini Timur, Pahang," he said.
P1's CBC was developed as a proof-of-concept telecentre for underserved areas.

On the other hand, Asiaspace and Redtone are looking at deploying WiWi in urban centres and will only take it to the rural areas later.

100 Free WiFi Hotspots

100 Free WiFi hotspots in Penang

I like to put the news in point form,

Just 5 months after the launch of the REDtone Penang Free WiFi Service Project, there are already 100 FREE WiFi hotspots in the state covering major shopping complexes and some public areas in the city centre.

REDtone is ready to roll-out its 2nd Phase to cover 250 more hotspots.

Currently : 10,000 registered users since the launch in March
Expectation : to see three-fold, increase to 30,000 registered users by the end of this year.

They hope to cover locations like:
-Batu Ferringhi
-Tanjung Bungah
-Pulau Tikus
-Jalan Raja Uda in Butterworth
-Bukit Mertajam

The company's plan to have a total of 750 free WiFi hotspots covering both the island and Seberang Perai by December next year.

Chief Minister, Lim, who launched the roll-out of Phase 2 of the project, said "With this project, we hope to enhance the broadband penetration in the state and perhaps in two years, rural areas will have the free WiFi service.

With free WiFi, we hope to transform Penang from sweatshop of manufacturing sector into a smartshop of the service industry.

Influenza A (H1N1) - FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Influenza A (H1N1) Flu?

Influenza A (H1N1) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses that causes regular outbreaks in pigs. People do not normally get swine flu, but human infections can and do happen. Swine flu viruses have been reported to spread from person-to-person, but in the past, this transmission was limited and not sustained beyond three people.

Is it contagious?

The Influenza A (H1N1) virus is contagious and spreads from human to human. However, at this time, it is not known how easily the virus spreads between people.

What are the signs and symptoms?

The symptoms are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhoea and vomiting.

How does it spread?

- The virus is spread from person-to-person. It is transmitted as easy as the normal seasonal flu and can be passed to other people by exposure to infected droplets expelled by coughing or sneezing that can be inhaled, or that can contaminate hands or surfaces.
- To prevent spread, people who are ill should cover their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, stay home when they are unwell, clean their hands regularly, and keep some distance from healthy people, as much as possible.
- There are no known instances of people getting infected by exposure to pigs or other animals.
- The place of origin of the virus is unknown.

What can I do to protect myself from getting the flu?

These are everyday actions that can help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like influenza. Take these everyday steps to protect your health:
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
- Try to sit at least one metre away from the next person.
- Avoid close contact with sick people.

What surfaces are most likely to be sources of contamination?

Germs can be spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose or mouth. Droplets from cough or sneeze of an infected person move through the air. Germs can be spread when a person touches respiratory droplets from another person on a surface like a desk and then touches their own eyes, mouth or nose before washing their hands.

How long can viruses live outside the body?

Some viruses and bacteria can live 2 hours or longer on surfaces like cafeteria tables, doorknobs, and desks. Frequent hand washing will help you reduce the chance of getting contamination from these common surfaces.

What should I do if I get sick?

Seek medical treatment from any doctor either in a government or private hospital/clinic.

Are there vaccines to prevent a person from getting the H1N1 flu?

There are no vaccine available right now to protect against the H1N1 flu.

Are there medicines to treat H1N1 flu?

Yes, at this moment there are two (2) types of anti-viral drugs i.e. Oseltamivir (Tamiflu (R)) or
Zanamir (Relenza (R)) to treat the H1N1 influenza viruses. The anti-viral drugs are prescription medicines that fight against the flu by keeping flu viruses from reproducing in your body. If you get sick, anti-viral drugs can make your illness milder and make you feel better faster. For treatment, anti-viral drugs work best if started soon after getting sick (within two(2) days of symptoms). (R) = Registered

Will the anti-viral protect a person from being infected?

No. The anti-viral are used for treatment of a person infected with the virus. It is not a vaccine that creates immunity against the infection. Persons not exposed to the virus are advised not to take the anti-virals because by taking them rampantly, the virus can be immune from the effects of the anti-virals.

How long can influenza virus remain viable on objects (such as books and doorknobs)?

Studies have shown that influenza virus can survive on environment surfaces and can infect a person for up to 2-8 hours after being deposited on the surface.

What can kill the influenza A (H1N1) virus?

The influenza virus can be killed with heat (75-100 degres celcius). Apart from that, chemical substance including chlorine, washing detergent (soap) and alcohol to name a few are effective on influenza virus if they are used in the right amount and specified time frame. For example, alcohol-based gel can be used for hand cleansing. This gel needs to be rubbed on to your hands until it is dried.

Is it safe to travel?

At this moment, the Health Ministry strongly advised the public to be aware that due to the highly contagious nature of the disease and its rapid spread across the world, non-essential travel by air or other means, especially to the affected areas, should be postponed. If travel is essential or unavoidable, travelers or dependents need to protect themselves appropriately.

If anyone were to fall ill either during or after the travel, the person is to obtain the relevent treatment from a doctor immediately.

My child is studying at one of the higher learning institutions/schools that has influenza A (H1N1) cases, what should I do?

If the higher learning institution/school is closed for a certain duration, your child has to be detained at home at all times and necessary precautions have to be taken on his/her well-being. At the same time, the higher learning institution/school authority is not allowed to hold any activity during the said closure.

If your child is having flu (influenza-like-illness) symptoms, he or she has to implement preventive measures at home at all times and perform self-examination on his/her health using the Guidelines on evaluation of one's health at home. Should the symptoms persist and become worst, your child needs to seek medical treatment immediately.

Where can I get more information?

For more information, go to the Health Ministry (http://www.moh.gov.my/) or call the Ministry's hotline at (03) 8881-0200/300.

Lead a healthylifestyle - Drink plenty of fluids, get enough sleep, execise regularly.

He's not poor

This is a good one!

So... I think we can not simply make an early conclusion by looking at a person from his first impression. What do you think?

Acting rich, makes you poor! and Acting poor, makes you rich! hahaha...

Hand Sanitizer

If you think that washing hands with soap is a little too much of a hassle and perhaps too attached with work, then to go to the washroom. Then, here is what you could do. I did. Actually we all did, in the office.

This is one simplest step for you to kill germ & prevent germs without water. It has scented fragrances for fresh smelling hands and easier to carry anywhere.

Hand Sanitizer (Kills germ without water)
- Antibacterial
- Kill germs
- Waterless
- Quick Drying yet moisturising
- Refreshing fragrance
- 50 ml

Just pour it to your palm and rub it both hands until it dries.

You don't know where the germ comes from, each time you did that hand shake with your customers, do you?
